CES in LAS VEGAS 2012

Open the Gates – With more than 31 football fields of show space, CES attendees have to crowd in opening day and walk themselves ragged in hopes of not just seeing all the show but seeing what will win/fail big in the coming year. While a few folks have said CES is on its last leg, we wonder if they were at the same show we were this month.

More than 3,100 exhibitors squeezed into a mere 1.861 million net square feet (31+ football fields) of exhibit space and the show drew more than 153,000 attendees.

Below is another video clip in lower quality shot from an iPad,
more appropriate and accessible to the sign language consumers.

Hey, 50! You better call me! Your people did not cut the line just to let
me through for nothing. They were trying to hook us up to do business.
Call me! You got my movie DVD! I be waiting!

By the way, your headphones are sleek and sexy, but Beats by Dre has far
better beats for my "deaf as a post" hearing loss. You need me! I have ideas!
Let's get Vestibeats Vibrotouch feel-the-music products on the move before
someone else call me up. Man, 36 millions deaf and hard of hearing
consumers has been waiting for the right products! Can't you see??

Samsung Note. This is the new device that’s small enough to use as a phone yet big enough to use as a tablet, soon to be announced for AT&T. (I want one!) To show off its capabilities, they had two artists doing portraits of showgoers using the special pen that comes with the device, and all their advertising features examples of these portraits.
Smile, man! The artist is trying to draw YOU!
That's better.

Now, we can draw from a tablet! How cool it that?
Every year, Samsung distributed thousand of free mobile batteries to attendees

Monster Headphones Gets the Stars Out:  Akon, Nick Cannon, Xzibit, Eliza Dushku, Rick Fox, Wayne Brady, Wonder Girls AT CES 2012

CES finds a way to bring out the big players in technology and entertainment.
We promised we would come back with our most interesting finds from CES 2012 and it was the Monster Headphones at booth #1303.  Monster brought out the celebs and showed off some stunning technology that is extremely important in the digital era
 – a good set of headphones.
In the era of content portability, most consumers want to hear their music or watch movies with a good set of headphones and Monster is making sure they are the headphones of choice.  To compete with50Cent, Dre, Bieber and other headphone suppliers, Monster decided to get the name out by putting together some entertainment heavyweights at CES.

A presenter prepares for his Macaw 2-minute pitch
There are dozens of apps to keep you healthy, making you hyper conscious of diet and exercise. What’s novel about Macaw (yes, named for the long lived bird) is that it combines US Preventative Medicine ( a company that helps change medical behaviors)expertise in monitoring activity, diet and education about staying healthy, with Qualcomm’s 2Net which lets you use any device (Bluetooth, WiFi, Ant+) into the 2Net platform to let it handle the transmission and management of the data. In a tower of Babel landscape, Macaw may provide the language all of these devices need to speak.

KIA Naimo EV Concept - It's first new electric car
The concept EV the company brought to Vegas – called Naimo – of course won’t be in production anytime soon, if ever, and even the Ray EV which the company plans to begin selling this year will be available only on Kia’s Korean home turf. But the company suggested that could change, and perhaps soon. “Where the Naimo EV concept looks into the future of zero-emissions vehicles from Kia,” said Michael Sprague, Kia's vice president for marketing and communications, “the Ray EV is the first realization for the brand and represents exciting new possibilities for the future in the North American market.”

Kia built a Jetson-concept-3 mobile.

That's why as a writer, I am producing a movie by us and about us because nobody is going to do it for us. We want to attract media attention and let the   world know what we are trying to do. We're very tired of being overlooked and not having our voices heard.    (See  press release  from 2012) We're planning a Deaf Talent® Movement for change in film and TV by using hashtags support  #DEAFTALENT®, #POCDEAFTALENT, #DEAFBLACKFILM, #DEAFERSITY, or #DEAFTALENTSOFCOLOR  to spread   awareness and representation about our film, The Double Life of Zhane Rain, written by first Black Deaf Filmmaker, Ann

The Co-option of Deaf Talent® Movement (2012)©

The  Deaf Talent ®  Movement, founded by the first Black Deaf Filmmaker/Activist,  Jade Bryan  in 2012, is a social and cultural icon centralized on  spreading awareness  about the lack of representation of BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) in television and film. However, Black Deaf actors, writers, producers, and Black Deaf stories are the most overlooked in getting recognition in film and television. This movement began on multiple online and real-life platforms, starting with social media. Jade Bryan created a social media platform by using Twitter and Facebook to spread awareness of the need for better representation in television and film before moving her movement to the streets. (See press release from 2012) A close-knit of Black and POC Deaf Activists from the Deaf community and actors cast in Jade Bryan’s film, The Shattered Mind , (formerly known as The Double Life of Zhane Rain ), met up and campaigned in the streets. The movement lasts for several weeks from
